दूरदर्शन के प्रमुख कार्यक्रमों में से एक, मैं कुछ भी कर सकती हूं, को देख कर राजस्थान के चोमू के 12 वर्षीय दाऊ सिंह इतने अधिक प्रेरित हुए कि उन्होंने अपने गांव के लोगों को खुले में शौच करने से रोकने और अपने घरों में सफल स्वच्छ प्रथा लागू करने के लिए प्रेरित करना शुरु किया. दाऊ सिंह के पड़ोसी की जमीन का ग्रामीणों द्वारा शौच के लिए उपयोग किया जाता था. 12 साल के लड़के ने पड़ोसियों को “मैं कुछ भी कर सकती हूं” के कुछ एपिसोड दिखाए और उन्हें परिवार के लिए शौचालय बनाने के लिए राजी किया. इस छोटी सी पहल का बाकी ग्रामीणों पर प्रभाव पड़ा और जल्द ही पूरे गांव ने खुले में शौच करना बंद कर दिया.
इस बदलाव के बारे में बात करते हुए दाऊ सिंह कहते हैं, “जब मैंने शो देखा, तो मैं कुछ भी कर सकती हूं में डॉ. स्नेहा की कही बातों से मुझे अपने गांव में बदलाव लाने की प्रेरणा मिली. हमने गांव को खुले में शौच से मुक्त करा कर कई बीमारियों पर अंकुश लगाया है. हमारे सरपंच ने गांव भर में सार्वजनिक शौचालयों का निर्माण करने का निर्णय लिया. जो लोग अपने घर में शौचालय का निर्माण नहीं कर सकते हैं, वे इन सार्वजनिक शौचालयों का उपयोग करते हैं. हमें बेहतर समाज के लिए “मैं कुछ भी कर सकती हूं” जैसे कई शो चाहिए.”
