भारतीय सिनेमा में आज़ादी से लेकर अब तक सैकड़ों फिल्में बनी जिनमें आज़ादी की लड़ाई को विभिन्न प्रकार से दिखाया गया । वैसे ही एक घटना भारतीय आज़ादी की लड़ाई के लिए 1922 में उत्तर प्रदेश के गोरखपुर जनपद के चौरी चौरा में लड़ी गई । उसी घटना को केंद्र में रखकर फ़िल्म बनी है 1922 प्रतिकार चौरी चौरा । यह फ़िल्म एक सत्य घटना पर आधारित है और उस घटना ने देश के आज़ादी की लड़ाई को एक अलग ही रुख प्रदान कर दिया था । आज यह फ़िल्म रिलीज़ हुई है और रिलीज़ के साथ ही इस फ़िल्म ने इतिहास के कुछ उन पलों से हमें रूबरू कराया है जिन्हें आजतक के इतिहासकारों ने भुला दिया था । फ़िल्म की भव्यता का अंदाज़ा इसी बात से लगाया जा सकता है कि हर एक किरदार ने अपने आप को उस पल के हालात में ढालने के लिए सर्वस्व न्योछावर कर दिया है ।
